Perth! Great weather, picturesque scenery, beautiful beaches and parks. Every corner you turn is a great photo opportunity or an interesting find. We are lucky enough to get the opportunity to capture a beautiful wedding here in Perth. Not just any wedding, it is the wedding of my friend Rick and Jess.
I’ve known the bride Jess since our University days in Brisbane, I returned to Singapore after completing my studies and she moved to Perth for her Masters and has made Perth her home ever since. When she came back to Singapore earlier this February for Chinese New year, she told us she is getting married to her boyfriend Rick. So naturally being in this industry I recommended her our services (wedding videography Singapore) and without hesitation she said OK =) It is always a good feeling when your friend choose you and trust you for their special day. So anyway long story short – we did part of her prewedding (prewedding videography Singapore) in here and part of it in Perth (overseas engagement videography).
In a nutshell, this is a timeline of what we did. We got to Perth on a Tuesday. Met Rick and Jess on the Wednesday to film their prewedding scenes, spend the Friday editing their prewedding and Sunday is WEDDING DAY! Oh Yes we also managed to meet up with Jo & Shui (we did their wedding back in March) for dinner, it was a good catch up session and we are so happy for them as Jo is pregnant and already in her 3rd trimester =)
Weddings is different in Perth, there is no need for same day edits which is a relaxing change for us =) a typical angmo wedding starts around noon and will end at the lunch/dinner reception. No gate crash, no early in the morning makeup, smaller guests list, dinner starts on time as written on the invitation card. Everything is quite chill, everyone having a good time, guests are polite and actually paying attention to the speeches, the newly weds have time to mingle with all their guests due to the manageable guests list .18 tables is consifered a large wedding imagine that! I like it =)
Rick and Jess wedding had a mix traditional touches , like gatecrash and tea ceremony, the rest are quite angmo. The celebrant (JP) is a charismatic young man =) Most our JPs in Singapore are all pretty old right. He led the ceremony very well and he even brought his own sound system – very impressive indeed!
In a typical Singaporean wedding dinner, the bride and groom usually sits with their family. It is different for the angmo styled weddings. I like it that for the dinner banquet, the stage is where the bridal party sits and bridal party meaning bride + groom + bridesmaids + groomsmen only.
It has been a wonderful experience for Twenty8picks to be there, we get to make new friends (JP and PGs) and also learn about their wedding culture. We hope to be back soon for another prewedding or wedding session. Jess & Rick’s engagement video will be up soon do watch out for that!
